Palace Family and Patrons,
With rapidly changing circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak and Governor Abbott’s phased reopening of the state of Texas, we’ve had to continue to alter our schedule of shows and events. As of now, we’re tentatively planning to reopen the Palace with Sweet Charity, Mamma Mia, and Boeing! Boeing! in June. The exact dates are to be determined, as we wait for further details of the Governor’s plan.
The Motown Hits Parade, featuring Jacqui Cross and Laura Benedict, has been postponed until the Summer of 2021. We’re still planning to proceed with Brighton Beach Memoirs, The Wizard of Oz, and Grease later on this summer.
It’s likely we will be limiting capacity of the both the Springer Stage and Playhouse Stage to 50%, in accordance with Governor Abbott’s Phase 2 Open Texas guidelines. For those who already have tickets to a performance of Sweet Charity, Mamma Mia, or Boeing! Boeing!, we will be contacting you by email or phone to confirm your seats.
The Doug Smith Performance Center is just about ready, and we’re still hoping to be able to run some of our Summer Camps beginning June 1st. We know that Governor Abbott has promised to announce specific guidelines for all summer camp operations soon, and we have been working hard to anticipate what those guidelines might be and modifying our plans accordingly. So as soon as his announcement happens, we will be ready to finalize the details and announce our specific plans and procedures.
Along with reduced capacity, we will be implementing many new safety measures for both our performances and Summer Camps. We invite you to take our short survey to give your thoughts on what specific safety measures would make you feel more comfortable returning to the Palace, once we’re able to re-open.
The next installment of The Palace Plays On will premiere on Thursday May 28th, on Facebook Live, featuring more of our talented performers and another live auction! As before all proceeds will go directly to helping the Palace continue to operate during the global pandemic.
We are so grateful for your continued support of and commitment to the Palace. Stay safe and we will see you soon.
