Auditions will be held Saturday, September 11th, starting at 2pm, and then Sunday, September 12th, starting at 6:00pm. Callbacks will be held Monday, September 13th, starting at 7pm. Rehearsals will generally be held Monday through Thursday, from 7-10pm, and Saturdays from 1-5pm. Performances will begin November 19th, and close December 30th. Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30pm, and Sunday at 2pm, with Weekday shows at 7:30 PM on Dec. 9, 15-16, 21-23 & 27-30 and a matinee on Saturday, Dec 18th at 2pm. There will be no performances on Dec 24th or 25th, but we will have a matinee on Dec 26th. All Auditions, Rehearsals, and Performances will be held at the Palace Theatre.
Do NOT come to this audition unprepared. It will be nearly impossible to consider you for a speaking role if you do.
We will have a cast of around 15-20 adults, and 12 Children. Many of the speaking roles will also be a part of the Adult Chorus as well.
Even though this show will have at least 27 performances, my preference is not to double cast any of the adult roles. However, even if you cannot commit to every performance, please audition anyway and indicate your preference on the audition form.
The majority of the children’s roles will be double cast, due to the number of performances.
Each child who wants to audition must be 7 years of age on or before September 11th, 2010.
For the Children, they will be scheduled in groups in the first section on each day. All of the children will learn the same song, a simple dance, and a piece of dialogue. We will callback the children that will be considered for Tiny Tim and the rest of the Cratchit Children on Monday.
Parents, please bring a photo of your child. Any photo will do (please make sure it's recent). This will help with casting decisions later.
For the Adults, the auditions will consist of 3 parts.
1. A memorized monologue, no more than 1-2 minutes in length. This can be from any play, musical, movie, book, or personal experience. It must be memorized.
2. Please prepare one verse and one chorus of a song from a musical that demonstrates your range, and is no more than 1-2 minutes in length. An accompanist will be provided, please bring a copy of your sheet music. Songs from the show are welcome for audition pieces, as well as any other stylistically appropriate tune.
You may also bring your own accompaniment on CD. However, please make sure there are no recorded vocals. You may NOT sing A cappella.
3. Dancing. Our choreographer will teach you a combination of steps, you’ll get to practice it, and then perform it. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes that will allow you move freely.
Callbacks will be by invitation only, consist of readings from the script, and more singing and dancing.
To audition, please send an email to auditions@thegeorgetownpalace.org, include your name, phone number, and which day you’d prefer to audition. We will schedule in groups to perform the songs and monologues first, from 2-4 on Sat, and 6:00-7:30 on Sunday.
Then at 4:30pm on Saturday, and 8:30pm on Sunday, we’ll teach everyone the dance combination, and then have you perform the dance in groups. So plan to stay for dance portion, it is required for everyone that wants to be in the show.
