Grease Audition Information
Director: Ron Watson
Choreographer: Judy Price-Thompson
Music Director: David Blackburn
Stage Manager: Faith Castaneda
The Georgetown Palace announces auditions for our production of Grease the Musical. The production is scheduled to open Friday, September 18th and close on Sunday, October 25th.
The Georgetown Palace introduces Rydell High’s senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding “Burger Palace Boys” and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking “Pink Ladies” in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical. Head “greaser” Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their “Summer Nights” as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as “Greased Lightnin’,” “It’s Raining on Prom Night,” “Alone at the Drive-In Movie” recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard, and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation. Our production will also feature several songs from the movie, including Grease, Hopelessly Devoted, and You’re the One that I Want.
What we’re looking for:
We’re looking for talented and diverse performers who will have a lot of fun bringing this Rock N Roll musical to life. We’re looking for a small cast for this production, with the principals, and small ensemble to round it out. We are seeking talented performers of all ethnicities for all roles in this production.
While the Palace hopes to continue as scheduled. Dates are subject to change when indicated by health organizations and government officials.
We will do everything we can to make participating in this production as safe as possible for everyone involved. We have developed policies and procedures for rehearsals and performances that should help mitigate the risk. As circumstances continue to change, we will monitor them and continually update our procedures. It’s possible that this production will be performed outdoors at a venue in Georgetown. We’re also considering pre-recording some or most of the vocals for this show.
We’re asking everyone to submit a video of themselves singing one or more of the auditions sides, (HERE) using the piano tracks that we’ve provided. The deadline for submission of these videos is Friday, July 10th at midnight. You can either email the video to firstname.lastname@example.org, or upload it to YouTube and send us a link. At the beginning of the video, please state your name and what roles you’d like to be considered for. We’ve compiled some tips to help you with the videos.
