Palace Education Program AAA
Theatre Arts Education for Everyone
The Palace Theater holds a unique place in Central Texas. What was primarily an attempt to preserve a cherished landmark by building a non-profit community performing arts facility, has matured into a full-fledged Theatrical Community. While much of our talent still comes from Williamson County, we draw actors, dancers, directors, musicians, and technical specialists from Austin and beyond.
As we announce the expansion of The Palace Theatre's Education Program, we want to honor the "home grown" aspect of what made the Palace successful. From first time performers to theater veterans, we have learning opportunities for every age and experience level.
Come and find a place to grow and challenge yourself within the Palace Education Program
Palace Playhouse (ages 4-2nd grade)
A safe and inviting place for young children to explore the arts through music, movement, visual arts and dramatic play. We offer afternoon and weekend classes designed to introduce beginning theatre concepts as well as encourage self confidence, cognitive skills and gross motor development. Parents are invited to join the class periodically for a presentation of new skills!
Theatre Arts Training (3rd grade-12th grade)
Special focus on the skills all performers must have: poise, motivation, and self-confidence. Students also strengthen skills in teamwork, problem solving and active listening. All levels of experience are welcome.
Production Workshops (1st grade- 12th grade)
Everyone wants to be in a show! Use the skills that you have acquired in acting, vocal and dance workshops to be a part of one of our all time favorite musicals. Production workshops meet for 3 hours a week for 15 weeks and end in Main Stage Palace performances for the entire community! Experience a full theatrical production from auditions, rehearsals, and costuming, through opening night. Prerequisites include fundamentals classes in both acting and vocal training or enrollment in a previous Palace Summer Workshop.
School Break Explore Theatre Program
Use your days off from school to learn more about Theatre. From strengthening audition skills to learning about careers, in-service days provide a full day of fun at the Palace. Extended breaks (like Spring Break) are a great time to delve into something a little more substantial, like our "Extreme Theatre"option where students audition, rehearse, and perform a full play in just one week!
Coming Fall 2014- Pre-professional Workshops and Performance Ensemble
Look for more information in the coming months about performance opportunites for advanced students looking to delve deep into individual facets of theatre education guided by industry professionals who give them the unique perspective of a working Theater. Prerequistes for Pre-professional program will include Introductory workshops and audition.

The Georgetown Palace Theatre Education Program is dedicated to training youth and adults in theatre arts and to providing age appropriate performing opportunities.
Our MISSION is to foster a lifelong appreciation of Live Theatre by providing a safe environment for training and creative self-expression, while building self confidence and leadership skills through the performing arts.
The Palace Theatre began offering Summer workshops for children in 2004. 2011 was our first year to offer full scale after school programs in the fall and spring for both kids and adults in addition to Summer and Spring Break workshops. This year, we are expanding our offerings in response to your suggestions.
