Theatre Arts Education for Everyone

The Palace Theater holds a unique place in Central Texas. What was primarily an attempt to preserve a cherished landmark by building a non-profit community performing arts facility, has matured into a full-fledged Theatrical Community. While much of our talent still comes from Williamson County, we draw actors, dancers, directors, musicians, and technical specialists from Austin and beyond.

As we announce the expansion of The Palace Theatre's Education Program, we want to honor the "home grown" aspect of what made the Palace successful. From first time performers to theater veterans, we have learning opportunities for every age and experience level.

Fall 2013 Schedule of Workshops Coming Soon!

  • For young children and upper elementary we offer afternoon and weekend classes designed to introduce beginning theatre concepts as well as encourage self confidence, cognitive skills and gross motor development.
  • Our Middle School program allows students to take risks in a safe learning environment. They begin to find their place in a larger Community and using higher order thinking skills, they describe abstract concepts.

  • The High School Focused Learning Series encourages teens to delve deep into individual facets of theatre education guided by industry professionals who give them the unique perspective of a working Theater.

  • Adults
can either improve their existing skill set through our Master's Workshops or attempt something completely new with our Sidewalk to Spotlight series.

The Georgetown Palace Theatre Education Program is dedicated to training youth and adults in theatre arts and to providing age appropriate performing opportunities.

Our MISSION is to foster a lifelong appreciation of Live Theatre by providing a safe environment for training and creative self-expression, while building self confidence and leadership skills through the performing arts.
The Palace Theatre began offering Summer workshops for children in 2004. 2011 was our first year to offer full scale after school programs in the fall and spring for both kids and adults in addition to Summer and Spring Break workshops. This year, we are expanding our offerings in response to your suggestions.

Thanks to a generous donation from Georgetown Seeds of Strength, the Palace Theatre is proud to announce that we will be able to offer 10 full-year need based scholarships for the 2013-2014 school year. These scholarships apply to all of our after school workshops.

These scholarships are for 100% tuition. To qualify, families must qualify for the Federal free or reduced lunch program or provide documentation of similar financial status. Students are also required to submit a statement of interest and a letter of recommendation. Scholarships will be awarded prior to the beginning of the Fall semester.

For more information, or to apply, please see our scholarship application here (pdf format).
